Any suggestions? The belt is falling off the pulleys after around 1 hour of use. Happened the last 2 weeks during mowing. Don't see any obvious signs

Check to make sure that you have enough tension, and that you do not have a bent pulley, or failing spindle bearing, grass build up under the shields? Also belt wear could cause it to come off but more likely it is one of the other items mentioned. ....

Thanks guys. The deck and machine are both new (Sept 09). I have only used the deck 5 times now. I did adjust the tension after the 1st time the belt came off. Had to remove the deck the 2nd time as the belt was bound up. Belt looks good, adjusted the tension again. Have to cut grass tomorrow, hopefully problem is now solved. ....

Remember a new mower can have a bent pulley or bad belt or bearing or something loose. Have you checked to be sure all turn freely and you are greasing all properly. I found out a air powered grease gun (my does any way) will sound like it is pumping grease when it is not. Learned to use manual for bearings. ....

It must have been a defective belt. It snapped the next time I cut the grass. Purchased a new belt, set the spring for the tension pulley at 5 9/16 in. and haven't had a problem since. Will check spring after next mowing and adjust if necessary. Pulleys were all straight.
Thanks again for the input ....

KT,
I didn't ask about a warranty since the belt was a little twisted (no visible cuts) from the 2nd time it popped off. I did purchase a new belt and got 8 hours (about 4 cuttings) out of before it snapped. I adjusted the spring gap (5 9/16") each time before I cut. All pulleys turn freely and straight, no burrs inside of pulleys either. I will be taking the belt back to dealer hopefully for free replacement. I have cooled down enough now not to be an ass**** about it. At 50+ dollars a crack (and 8 to 10 hrs of use for each), they're going to have to come up with a solution or lose a customer. ....

Update. Dealer came to the conclusion that the pulleys were bad. Offered warranty replacement of all 3 pulleys. Took 6 weeks from the time I dropped the deck off to get it back. Was told pulleys were back ordered from factory so they were pulled from dealer network. Not happy it took 6 weeks, but all the people I have dealt with at this dealer are good guys(my opinion). ....
